The New Soothe
From Lunar treatments to soundbathing and shamanic-inspired facelifts, Behiye Hassan reveals the four treatments she’ll be trying in 2019.
LUNAR CYCLE TREATMENTS
What is it? The four signature treatments use Organic Pharmacy products to reflect the varying energies of the moon’s lunar cycle. The New Moon treatment leaves you feeling energised and awakened; the Waxing Moon treatment refocuses energy, goals and maximum potential; the Full Moon treatment harmonises and rebalances; and the Waning Moon treatment detoxifies and revives.
Where can I try it? The Auriga Spa at the Marigot Bay Resort & Marina in Saint Lucia. The five-star resort sits on the most beautiful bay in the Caribbean surrounded by beautiful mountains, palm trees and a stunning marina. In addition, it has two infinity pools, a swim-up bar, fine dining restaurants and a Rum Cave. They also offer each guest a personalised service and a personal assistant on hand during your stay. www.marigotbayresort.com
Cryotherapy
What is it? Sometimes known as cold therapy, this treatment exposes your body to temperatures of -190 degrees in a cryosauna cabin. During the short process your body sends danger signals to the brain, which only receives this information after the session is over. The body then begins a healing process. Regular sessions can result in several benefits including improvements in metabolism, sleep, immune system and the appearance of the skin. It also promotes recovery after exercise or injuries, making it very popular with some of the world’s best footballers.
Where can I try it? SHA Wellness in Spain introduced the treatment in 2017. The award-winning medical spa offers a wide range of health programmes and treatments.

Seiketsu Shiraku Acupuncture
What is it? As with regular acupuncture, Seiketsu Shiraku can treat a range of issues including stress and anxiety. The difference here is that small cuts are made onto the skin so that a few drops of blood can be squeezed out before placing the needles in. The cuts are made onto the Seiketsu points of the nervous system, which improves the flow of energy by releasing excess heat or energy. The aim is to restore neurological balance and aid relaxation once treatment is complete.
Where can I try it? Chiva-Som, Bangkok. One of the world’s top wellness destinations, it offers spa, fitness, physiotherapy, holistic, nutrition and aesthetic beauty for health and wellbeing. The name Chiva-Som, incidentally, as chosen by founder Boonchu Rojanastien, means ‘Haven of Life’.

Zone Face Lift
What is it? A non-invasive facial treatment that aims to remove 10 years of ageing over a 12-week programme. Inspired by creator Ziggie Bergman’s time spent with Native American shaman and healers in New Mexico, the treatment combines ancient and modern techniques such as Bergman Method Facial Reflexology, Japanese Facelift Massage, GuaSha, Quartz Crystals and Facial Cupping along with Native American healing herbs. It naturally stimulates collagen and elastin from the inside to tighten, plump, smooth, and lift the face.
Where can I try it? Ziggie Bergman is based at Grace Belgravia and is an award-winning facial reflexologist and spirit medicine expert. The Zone Face Lift costs £185 for a 60-minute session or £1,750 for 12 sessions.
