LOCKDOWN LEADER: Pip & Nut
Natural nut butter brand Pip & Nut is calling its community to join them in supporting those who need it most with their 'one from you, one from us' initiative.
Food banks are under more pressure than ever during the current coronavirus pandemic. There is to an increased demand coming through from the vulnerable people in the community and donations are at an all-time low.
Peanut butter is one of the many foods in demand as it is a nutritious store cupboard staple. Pip & Nut delivered 500 jars of peanut butter to Hackney Food Bank, the nearest to their HQ. However, they felt this wasn’t enough and wanted to do more to continue to support foods banks over the coming months.
So, they launched the 'one from you, one from us' initiative, where they are calling on the community to donate a jar of peanut butter to food banks. For every jar donated on their website, Pip & Nut will match the donation. These are then sent off to food banks in need on a weekly basis. It's a totally not for profit initiative, all donations will go towards the cost of the product and delivery, with any leftover going back to charity. By the end of the first week they had 338 jar which was a total of 676 jars on their way to food banks.
On their social media they are also running a campaign to nominate someone who deserves a Nut Butter Care package. Follower are being encouraged to nominate amazing people who they think deserve a treat - whether that’s NHS workers, isolated relatives and friends, key workers in shops, delivery drivers or volunteers. Pip & Nut will then pick someone each week to send a care package to and share their story.
