LOCKDOWN LEADER: Lisa Brown
Lisa Brown’s acclaimed and much-loved Luxury Spa Edit site has been handpicking and showcasing the best and most fabulous luxury spas, clinics and wellness retreats around the world for years now, with a raft of expert contributors including Alice Hart-Davis, Juliet Kinsman, Jo Foley and the Observer’s Eva Wiseman. Scores of featured destinations include RENOWned wellness havens sha wellness and lanserhof to the royal mansour and kamalaya.
Lisa herself has some two decades’ experience in the beauty industry; formerly a celebrity make-up artist to the likes of Kate Moss and Daniel Craig, she has visited over 120 spa hotels, resorts and wellness retreats across four continents, doing everything from yoga in the Himalayas to detoxing at Viva Mayr, resulting in a wealth of insight and experience. And while the spas may be in lockdown, the website is still running – all the more remarkable, given these extreme times and difficult personal circumstances, with a mum having been in hospital with Covid-19.
Like several businesses, Luxury Spa Edit wants to give something back too, to the brave and tireless NHS staff and key frontline workers who have helped keep scores of people alive. To this end, the website has joined forces with some of the most prestigious spa hotels in the UK to say thank you to those putting their own lives at risk to help others during the Covid-19 pandemic. There are more than a dozen spa breaks be won, exclusively for medical staff, with the winners selected at random. The prizes on offer include a Luxury Spa Break For Two At The Langham, in London; a Wellness Journey Spa Break For Two At Rockliffe Hall, in County Durham; and a Luxury Midweek Spa Break For Two At Bailiffscourt Hotel & Spa, in West Sussex. As Lisa writes in her ‘Wellness for Heroes’ promotion, “You are all heroes and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Good luck!”
