It takes a village – why not hire your own?

An idyllic new countryside destination is taking the strategic business retreat to the next level.

Beaverbrook in Surrey is offering a secluded new development, The Village, comprising a self-contained collection of ten cottages and two event spaces nestled among the Surrey Hills. The exclusive complex allows companies to effectively take over an entire village, away from the distractions of normal life.

The luxurious accommodation includes 21 individually designed suites, surrounded by beautiful woodland and complimented by a new restaurant and events space, all on a theme of British art and literary figures.

While the position is private, residents still benefit from the first-class catering and service of the main hotel and each cottage even has a buggy for guests to explore the Beaverbrook estate during their stay.

For a workforce splintered by pandemic-induced remote working, the time couldn’t be better to consider gathering staff off-site and providing them with a space to reconnect and reset their group thinking.

According to Forbes, “While 39% of global knowledge workers will work hybrid by the end of 2023, science tells us that 100% of these employees want to connect with their peers, at some point, in a social environment.”

We need to check in with the tribe and sometimes that isn’t possible during the cut and thrust of a busy working day.

A short break in rural surroundings, far from the noise and dirt of the city, could be just what a jaded workforce needs to re-engage with the people they spend every day interacting with.

Interior designer Nicola Harding has recreated the look and feel of a timeless traditional English woodland village, while creative director Sir Frank Lowe has curated the artwork to compliment Harding’s colourful, welcoming interiors.

The new on-site restaurant, Mrs Beeton’s, will offer a British-inspired menu which champions local produce, alongside an “elegant” wine list.

The exclusive-use event space, Writer’s Block, can accommodate up to 22 people for corporate meetings and family dinners.
